Visiting Jurong Bird Park

On 24th September 2009, we visited Jurong Bird Park. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. I knew Fabien enjoyed taking part in the Birds of Prey Show.

Here's Richard's journal:

Yesterday, I went on a school excursion to Jurong Bird Park. When we were about to leave the school, the sky became dark and it started to rain. After making sure everything was in order, Miss Lim asked all of us to board the bus. When the bus was traveling along the expressway, there was heavy traffic. How we wished the bus could fly to the Bird Park instantly!

When we finally reached the Bird Park, there were many visitors waiting to get into the park. Some of my classmates went to the toilet before we entered the park. In the Bird Park, Miss Lim brought us to the Bird Discovery Centre first. In the centre, we saw the skeleton of the elephant bird, the largest bird on earth. Then we saw a cockatoo in a cage and also an ostrich egg.

Next we moved to the Birds of Prey Show. There were eagles, vultures, owls and hawks performing in the show. After the show, we went to the children’s playground and had a rest. Next, Miss Lim brought us to the African Waterfall Aviary. There was a strong foul smell in the aviary and I disliked it. We went to the waterfall and we had our snack.

We also visited the Pelican Cove and the World of Darkness where we saw different species of owls. Finally we visited the Penguin Expedition where we saw three species of penguins. There were also birds with webbed feet. We played with the ship’s steering wheel. After that, we went back to school. I wished I could go to the park again.

Fractions: Sharing The Cheese Cakes

The boys and girls were given 1 cake each to share among themselves.

Planning how to divide the cake

Led by the class monitors and Maths monitors, they cut up the cakes.

Result? The girls had extra slices of cake left and the boys did not have enough slices to share among themselves. Good try though.

Happy Teachers' Day !!!
